St. Patrick's Day 4-Miler

If there is a city that knows how to do St. Pat's up right, it is KC.  People decorate their homes, multiple parades are held, work is totally blown off  (for some, not me :( ), and--of course--the bars are hopping!  To kick of the week, a St. Patrick's Day Race is held on Snake Saturday in Historic Westport.

This race is totally a fun run.  People dress up.  There are multiple kids' "miles."  Dogs jog along.  The whole bit.  There is even a centipede category where runners come as a team and must run the race attached together.  This race is really just a party through the streets of KC.

The field was pretty fast--the first place chick was done in 23 minutes--so I didn't place in my age group or anything else for that matter.  I thought I did pretty well considering I am at peak mileage for the STL marathon.  I ran 4 miles in 28:22--I'll take it!

The best part was getting to race with my running buddy--Anna.  We meet about once or twice a week to run and have the best times.  There is nothing like the conversations we have after about 13 miles on the road!!!  Wild times, for sure!!!  I love a good distance running pal--the connection between two runners goes deep!
I was all business in my St. Patty's tie!!!
